ISU Students to Assemble Care Packages at 10 a.m. March 4
For Students Deployed in Iraq with Idaho National Guard
POCATELLO— Students at Idaho State University will be assembling care packages Friday for their fellow students currently deployed to Iraq with the Idaho National Guard.
The effort will take place at the College of Technology’s Roy F. Christiansen Building, room 370, beginning at 10 a.m.
This marks the second of three rounds of care packages that will be sent by ISU during the yearlong deployment. The effort is being organized by the student-run ISU Armed Forces Veterans’ Club with support from the Veterans’ Sanctuary, a transition and support program for student veterans and their dependants. Currently, there are about 25 student soldiers deployed to Iraq with the Idaho National Guards’ 148th Field Artillery.
The packages will include candy, food items, Valentine cards from the Girl Scouts, St. Patrick’s Day bags from a local church group and Easter eggs from a group of girls at ISU. The food was donated from SAM’s Club, Wal-Mart, Big Lots and ISU. The packages will be assembled by members of the Armed Forces Veterans’ Club, Veterans’ Sanctuary staff, and students from the College of Technology’s Business Information program.
For more information, contact Veterans’ Sanctuary Director Casey Santee at (208) 317-6229, or by email at santcase@isu.edu.
